I don’t know that there’s any player in the league who’s public perception is as varied as Dak Prescott‘s.
He is both a national superstar, featured in everything from yogurt commercials to NFL promos, and considered a mid-tier quarterback by most analysts.
He is both a former Heisman Trophy candidate who has won two division titles in three NFL seasons, and a quarterback with more doubters than anyone who has his level of talent.
Many around the league, however, believe 2019 is the year those doubters are forced to be quiet.
Bucky Brooks of NFL.com wrote an article this week discussing who he thinks will prove their doubters wrong in 2019. And, at the top of his list, was Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Of course, the national discussion around Prescott this offseason has been all about his next contract. With numbers floating upwards of $40 million a year being tossed around, many fans around the league have been laughing at Prescott believing he is worth that much.
The bottom line is, though, he is going to get a large chunk of money, and being that he is both a good quarterback and a young one, he’s earned the deal he will receive.
I have not felt this confident in the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys heading into a season since early August of 2016, when the veteran Tony Romo was still under center.
Dak Prescott has come into his own in recent years, and with a solid group of weapons, an improved offensive line, and some new blood at offensive coordinator, 2019 could end up being a special year for the Dallas Cowboys.
